The NextTalk youth editorial team is a joint media project by de.Perspektive e.V. in cooperation with the Jugendring Düsseldorf.

At its core is the active participation of young people in creating digital content. Participants develop their own ideas, produce TikTok videos, and creatively engage with social, cultural, and political topics. In doing so, they learn to make their perspectives visible and develop their own voice in the digital space.

Project objectives

• Promotion of media literacy in the use of social networks
• Strengthening self-efficacy and expressive skills
• Support for social and political participation
• Visibility of perspectives of young people from diverse backgrounds
• Development of critical thinking in digital environments

What do participants do?

The youth editorial team works in a project-based and practice-oriented way:

• Development of video ideas and formats
• Writing scripts and concepts
• Video production (camera work, on-camera presentation)
• Editing and post-production
• Publishing and analyzing content
• Reflection on social topics (e.g. diversity, everyday life, identity, social issues)

Project structure

The work takes place in regular meetings (offline and/or online) and includes:

• Idea development & topic research
• Content production
• Publication on TikTok
• Feedback & further development

Participants take on different roles such as editorial work, moderation, camera operation, and editing.

Target group

Young people and young adults (up to approx. 27 years), especially:

• with a migration background
• from diverse social realities
• with an interest in media, social media, and creative work

No prior experience is required.

Added value of the project

NextTalk combines digital media work with civic engagement:

• Low-threshold access through a familiar platform (TikTok)
• Practical training in media production
• Promotion of participation and democratic education
• Development of a sustainable youth media structure

Cooperation

The project is implemented in cooperation with the Jugendring Düsseldorf and is part of the youth initiative JugendPerspektive by de.Perspektive e.V.

Outlook

In the long term, NextTalk is intended to develop into a stable youth media platform that also integrates formats such as interviews, podcasts, and social media campaigns.
