3H – Genocide, Holocaust, Holodomor: Memory, Education, and Youth Empowerment
The 3H project promotes awareness of genocide, the Holocaust, and the Holodomor as key historical experiences of the 20th century and connects them to contemporary forms of discrimination, extremism, and hate ideologies. At its core are education, dialogue, and critical reflection, enabling young people to recognize historical violence as a warning signal for the present and to act in a human rights-oriented way.
Objectives
• increased awareness of discrimination and extremism;
• development of critical thinking and a sense of historical responsibility;
• reduced acceptance of hate speech and radical ideologies;
• creation and testing of educational and discussion formats;
• promotion of an active, humanistic, and human rights-oriented attitude among young people.
The term “Henozid” is used in the context of this project as it corresponds to the Ukrainian word for “genocide.” Since the project is implemented by Jugend:Perspektive and aims to make the Ukrainian perspective visible, this spelling was intentionally chosen.
Target groups
The target groups are Ukrainian youth as well as young people with and without a migration background aged 15–26, regardless of gender. Many of them have their own experiences of displacement or grow up in multilingual, transnational contexts.
Formats and methods
Within the project, three core educational events are planned, focusing on the key topics of genocide, the Holocaust, and the Holodomor. They are designed as interconnected spaces for education and dialogue, where historical events are explored in the context of systematic violence, dehumanization, and human rights violations. In addition, workshops, conferences, lecture formats, discussion rounds, public dialogues, and reflection formats will be organized to ensure active participation and a sustainable deepening of the content.
