Starthilfe PLUS – Professionalization and Networking of Ukrainian and Post-Soviet Organizations

Main goal / overarching objective

The project “Starthilfe PLUS” aims to sustainably strengthen Ukrainian and post-Eastern European migrant self-organizations (MSOs) in North Rhine-Westphalia. Through qualification, counseling, and networking, the organizations are empowered to professionalize their structures, independently implement projects, and establish themselves as active actors within a democratic civil society. In particular, organizational competencies, social participation, and the long-term effectiveness of the associations are strengthened.

Sub-goals

Within the framework of the project, at least 15 organizations and initiatives are specifically supported and accompanied in their development. Through practice-oriented workshops and individual consultations, competencies are built in the areas of project management, financial planning, fundraising, and public relations. In addition, a mentoring program for young engaged individuals is implemented to promote new leaders and ensure sustainable structures within the organizations.

Furthermore, cooperation between organizations as well as with relevant actors from politics, administration, and civil society is strengthened, enabling the creation of new collaborations and the expansion of existing networks.

Target group

The target group of the project includes Ukrainian and post-Eastern European migrant self-organizations, young adults aged 19 to 27, and people with refugee and migration experience in North Rhine-Westphalia. Particular attention is given to initiatives and associations in early stages of development that need support in building sustainable structures.

Implementation (where and how often?)

The project is implemented in North Rhine-Westphalia, particularly in the Düsseldorf area, and combines various formats such as workshops, individual consultations, mentoring, and networking meetings. Events take place both in person and online and are carried out regularly throughout the entire project period. This ensures a continuous learning and development process for participating organizations.

Project content

The project combines practical training offers with individual support and strategic networking. Key topics include association law, financial and project management, funding applications and fundraising, as well as public relations and digital communication. In addition, organizations are supported in the practical implementation of their projects and connected with each other and external partners through targeted networking formats.

Expected results

Through these measures, participating organizations develop into more stable, professional, and visible actors within civil society. They are better able to independently implement projects, acquire funding, and build sustainable partnerships. At the same time, social participation is strengthened, and the foundation is laid for long-term networks and future project development.

Project coordination

Project coordination includes the planning, organization, and implementation of all project activities, as well as continuous communication with participants, trainers, and cooperation partners. It ensures the smooth execution of the project, supports organizations in their development process, and is responsible for documentation and achieving the defined project goals.
